The work

Almost every failed patio and sunken walkway we get called out to fix failed for the same reason: the base underneath it was not deep enough or was never compacted properly.

We spend the time under the surface where nobody sees it, because that is the part that decides whether the job still looks right in ten years.

Questions

Paver Patios, Retaining Walls & Walkways: common questions

Why do patios and walkways sink?

Almost always because the base underneath was not deep enough or was never properly compacted. That is the part nobody sees and the part that decides whether the job still looks right in ten years, so it is where we spend the time.

Can you repair existing hardscape rather than replace it?

Often, yes. Settled pavers can be lifted, re-based and re-laid, and walls can sometimes be rebuilt in sections. We will tell you honestly when a repair is worth doing and when it is money after bad.

Do you handle drainage around a new patio or wall?

Yes, and it matters more than most people expect. A retaining wall without drainage behind it is holding back saturated soil, which is what pushes walls over. We build the drainage in.
